William Booth, the founder of The Salvation Army, was well known for his efforts to use whatever means possible to help people and to show them the value of living their lives in a pattern that resembled that of Christ. Now, nearly 150 years later, his spirit has lived in some Salvationists, but as a whole what is our mission? Is there any clarity as to what we believe and what those beliefs should motivate us to do?
Our beliefs (aka the doctrines) should form a basis for what we do as The Salvation Army. But do they seriously define what we do? Sure it's what we all say we believe . . . but when was the last time you made a mental connection between the doctrines and your actions?
The CORE represents a new initiative; an effort to revitalize the doctrines and to fuse them with everyday living. It's not enough to sign a piece of paper and swear that we believe what it says. If we believe it, we gotta do something with it. The CORE will provide pointed teaching in a relevant presentation that can rock The Salvation Army down to it's very foundation; down to the core.
It's coming. And you can be a part of it. It's not just about what "We Believe": it's about what are you going to do?
Keep checking back. There will be more information coming soon.
